My name is Sarah Drury and I am a Mass Communications graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University with a concentration in Print Journalism. I graduated in August of 2015. My top career goals would be to work as an Entertainment Reporter for a magazine or online publication. I am also very interested and passionate about the film business and would love to work as a screenwriter.
I currently work as a Reporter for The Star Democrat, a local newspaper in Maryland. I primarily cover Court/Crime, Education, Health and multiple community commissioners meetings. I also cover a variety of local events.
I have nearly 6 years of customer service work experience under my belt. Previously, I was employed at Regal Cinemas MacArthur 18 in Norfolk, VA. I worked there for almost two and a half years before transferring to Naro Cinema in Norfolk, an independent theater that I have been with almost three years. I also worked for Photogenic Inc., a photography company that takes and sells photos of customers at the Spirit of Norfolk and USS Wisconsin at Nauticus.
Over the summer of 2015, I interned as an Editorial Assistant for the online publication Altdaily.com.
I have done creative writing for most of my life as well. In high school I won numerous awards for a few of my poetry and short story pieces. I was also published in Tidewater Community College’s literary magazine in my first year of college. In my personal time, I dabble in screenwriting.
